Austin Peck and Terri Conn Peck (Master Media - October 15, 2018) Terri Conn Peck is an Emmy-nominated actress, QVC producer, and host. Catch Terri in Rich Christiano’s latest film, Play the Flute, in theaters this fall. Austin Peck is an established actor with over 1,500 hours of network television to his credit (Days of Our Lives, As the World Turns, One Life to Live), as well as a writer and producer.
DAN: How did the two of you meet and were you both Christians when you met?
AUSTIN: We originally met at a charity function in New York.
TERRI: Austin was a believer. I had grown up in the Episcopal Church, but it was meeting Austin and being introduced to the Spirit-filled church that took my spiritual journey straight to a relationship with the one true God. I had questions . . . LOTS of questions. It was Austin who answered those questions in a way I could understand and apply to what was going on in my life.
DAN: Why acting? What drew you to this career path?
AUSTIN: I grew up in L.A., my mother was an actress, and my stepfather a talent agent. I wasn’t exactly sure what my future held. I didn’t focus much on school and thought I was just going to enter into the military. But one day I was approached on the street by talent agents and asked if I’d be into acting/modeling. I was like, “Duh, yeah, ok . . . ” I just thought as an actor I can be anything. I can be in the military, be a pilot, be a lawyer, be anything.
TERRI: I grew up as an only child and military brat, so I was alone a lot. I had a very active imagination and loved writing and acting out my own stories—usually playing all the roles! I had a burning desire to make an audience feel and think and maybe even change, in the same way films and television did that for me.
DAN: Jesus said, “You are the light of the world,” calling Christians to be present in every community and industry. What role do you think actors in general, and specifically you as believers, play in the broader culture?
AUSTIN: I think actors can play a very powerful role. What actors do can touch the heart, reveal humanity, and shine light on truth. Actors’ sensibilities can be used for good and evil. Good in the sense of showing and revealing truth to help people move toward the light. Encouraging people to seek righteousness rather than darkness. Unfortunately, in today’s world we get the latter the majority of the time.
DAN: As you mentioned, Terri, you both have had roles in daytime serials (“soaps”). The storylines are often filled with conniving, cheating, scheming, etc. As Christian believers, how do you approach a role or scene where your character’s values are contrary to your own?
TERRI: Soaps, and even sit-coms, used to be morality plays. The bad guy got caught in the end and good prevailed. The audience learned something about “what not to do” by watching what can happen when you let evil take over. It seems, though, that it isn’t the case anymore. Evil is explained away and often glorified, and I cannot participate in that.
DAN: I appreciate you both so much. How can the Mastermedia community pray for you and your family?
AUSTIN: That I would be who God wants me to be.
TERRI: Thank you, Dan, for providing this ministry to all of us! We are so honored and grateful to be a small part of it! I would like to ask for protection for Austin, me, and our family. My manager, Michael Van Dyke, said that to go into the enemy’s territory with the intention of glorifying God is putting a big target on yourself for the enemy. We must be in constant prayer for the Lord’s protection. So I ask for prayers of protection for the Peck family and for all of us who are boldly declaring Jesus in Hollywood.
On The Town (ABC Soaps In Depth - August 27, 2018) Terri Conn (Aubrey, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) was beaming as bright as that sun at the premiere of her new TV movie, Wholly Broken, at the SOHO International Film Festival.
All Aboard (CBS Soaps In Depth - August 20, 2018) Trent Dawson (Henry, AS THE WORLD TURNS) hosted some of his Oakdale pals to benefit his new play
Austin Peck (Brad) and Terri Conn (Katie) joined Sayre and Dawson for a Q&A session. Conn admitted that she missed seeing her fellow ATWT castmates every day. "It sounds so cliche," she shared., "but it is true: It is a family."
New Roles For Two Fan Faves! (CBS Soaps In Depth - August 6, 2018) Meanwhile, Terri Conn (Katie, AS THE WORLD TURNS) has a new job as a QVC host! "I won't be on air until February," she tells Soaps In Depth. "I start six months of hard-core training in September. It's an amazing company that really looks like so much fun. QVC has their fans that call in, and I have a feeling they're probably some of the same fans [from daytime]."
Miss Independent (CBS Soaps In Depth - July 23, 2018) AS THE WORLD TURNS' Terri Conn (Katie) is taking on new challenges
After 13 years working in daytimes television, both on AS THE WORLD TURNS as ingénue Katie and on ONE LIFE TO LIVE as the scheming Aubrey, Terri Conn has found herself needing to reinvent her career in order to continue raising her family on the East Coast. In addition to working in real estate with her husband - fellow ATWT and OLTL alum Austin Peck (Brad/Rick) — she also entered the world of independent films. Recently, two of her pictures debuted at the SoHO International Film Festival.
Katie & Brad Together Again!
In The Tenth Year, Conn and Peck star as a couple facing a parole hearing for the drunk driver who killed their son. "Its about what unforgiveness can do to you," says Conn, adding that she missed acting with her spouse. "That's where we thrive... There's a really emotional scene where we just lose it with each other."
Then, in the musical Wholly Broken (which is being marketed as a TV pilot), Conn is a 9/11 widow who joins a support group at a local church, only to find a connection with the pastor who's struggling himself both with alcoholism and his estranged wife (ALL MY CHILDREN'S former Kendall, Alicia Minshew). "This series has a ton of potential," Conn suggests, "because we're all broken in different ways, and we can help each other if we would just be a little vulnerable and reach out."
Passing It On
Coming soon is Play The Flute, a film that the mother of three says is 'definitely a tearjerker." In it, she stars as the wife of a minister who's been called back to his home church to help their indifferent teens find faith. "There's a mentor theme to it, which has also been my advice to young actors or other young people who have dreams," Conn shares. "Seek out someone who's had success in what you want to do and ask them questions." (To arrange a local theater showing for your group, contact, Rich@christianmovies.com.)
Her New Dream
Currently. Conn is looking to make a big change in her own life by transitioning to become a TV program host, even if doing so means moving. "I got so spoiled on the soaps knowing I had a place to go and making a consistent living doing what I love," she admits. "[But] I do want to be on camera again, because I love it, and I love connecting with people."
Caption: Conn says that in Play The Flute, her character is attempting to help reach youth at a crucial time when they're searching for meaning."
Caption: The ATWT alumna recalls that former couple Henry and Katie "just loved each other to the core, warts and all. It was like a romantic relationship but without the romance."
Caption: In The Tenth Year, "we open in these people's lives who are just clearly miserable, and we don't know why" at first, says Conn (with Peck).
Trent Dawson Reunites 'As the World Turns' Cast for 'The F' Benefit (We Love Soaps - June 26, 2018) In 2017 an original play written by As the World Turns alum Trent Dawson, "The F," was produced at Manhattan Rep. in New York City. Dawson brought together a number of his former ATWT co-stars to perform "The F" live on stage at a benefit for the film on Friday, June 22.
Check out more photos below from the benefit, which included Dawson (ATWT's Henry Coleman), Martha Byrne (Lily Walsh Snyder), Austin Peck (Brad Snyder), Terri Conn (Katie Peretti Snyder), Anne Sayre (Mitzi Matters) and Eric Sheffer Stevens (Dr. Reid Oliver).
